So now we have passed the halfway stage of the OU MOOC Start Writing Fiction, I have found a facebook page for discussing with a more stable group of fellow-writers, and I can see the end of the course in sight.
Week 5:- My wish to do a bit more on plotting and conflict is being granted in week 5, because we have been instructed to find a character ‘from our journal’ and give him/her some kind of dilemma or conflict. I’ve already started working on Ade, an estate agent photographer, but don’t want to get into a rut with him. So I looked for something else in the journal and couldn’t really find anything (I’m not sure why the journal isn’t working too well for me). But on the hard drive I found a character sketch that I did two years ago. From the point of view of where it has come from, there’s certainly a lot of me in there!
